Podcast | Outlook for South Africa's policy and reform agenda

The governing African National Congress (ANC) won just over 57% of votes at a general election on 16 May, easily giving it another term in government. But this was its lowest vote share since the end of apartheid, and comes after the party was plagued by allegations of corruption and mismanagement under President Jacob Zuma, who stood down in February 2018.

In this podcast, Moeletsi Mbeki – deputy chairman of the South African Institute of International Affairs and a prominent South African political commentator, businessman, and former trade union official – gives his insights into what the outcome of the polls means for President Ramaphosa's reformist agenda. Leveraging his extensive political and business experience in the country, he provides his perspectives on the investment and operating environments in South Africa.
