Uzbekistan’s reform process: Chances and challenges

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, ruling Uzbekistan since December 2016, has initiated several milestone reforms aiming to create a market economy and open the country for foreign investors. Alexey Yugai, Associate Director and Eric Wheeler, Senior Associate in the Business Intelligence & Investigations team, have been on the ground meeting with international and Uzbek business people, as well as relevant figures in the public sector, outside political observers and journalists.

Our team will discuss their recent trip to Uzbekistan, providing insight on the ongoing economic and judicial reforms, challenges that the government is likely to face while implementing them, and the opportunities that this changing landscape presents to foreign investors.
