Risk Advisory is hosting a breakfast briefing and roundtable discussion on the implications of the South African general election on Thursday 16 May 2019, at our London headquarters.

Recent opinion polling indicates that the governing African National Congress (ANC) is on track to win another five years in government. But the same polls also show that the support for the long-time opposition Democratic Alliance has fallen, while the populist Economic Freedom Fighters could almost double its vote share compared with the 2014 election.

In this briefing Moeletsi Mbeki – deputy chairman of SAIIA and a prominent South African political commentator, businessman, and former trade union official – will give his insights into what the outcome of the polls means for President Ramaphosa’s reformist agenda. Leveraging his extensive political and business experience in the country, he will provide his perspectives on the investment and operating environments in South Africa.

We hope you can join us to discuss these issues. If you are unable to join in person, we will also broadcast it as a webinar. A podcast of the briefing will be available on request. Places are limited and preference will be given to Risk Advisory clients.
