Laura Seara Cabeca

Laura is Risk Advisory’s deputy head of the Africa team. She focuses on advising clients on their investments across the continent, with a specific focus on Portuguese-speaking African countries. Her expertise includes pre-investment due diligence, influence mapping, and other strategic assignments, including market entry studies and other complex political risk projects. Laura is an Angolan national and has lived and worked in Luanda for several years. Prior to joining Risk Advisory, Laura worked for a non-profit organisation promoting cooperation between major cities in Lusophone countries.

Project highlights:

• Provided intelligence to support a North American engineering group with significant interests in the West African mining sector in a commercial dispute over a logistical asset with a competing mining entity.
• Conducted detailed market assessments of the agricultural and fertiliser sectors in three sub-Saharan African countries on behalf of a North African fertiliser producer seeking to expand its regional footprint.
• Led viability assessment for a European private equity considering an investment in an early-stage power project in Sierra Leone.
• Investigated the wealth accumulation story of a high-profile Angolan businessman and assessed its legitimacy, in light of widespread allegations of embezzlement from Sonangol, Angola’s national oil company.
